A TREE almost helped start World War III. 🌳💥

In this episode of MX3 Podcast, we react to The Fat Electrician’s “World War Tree - Operation Paul Bunyan,” the incredible story of the 1976 Korean axe murder incident and the massive U.S. military response that followed.

After two American officers were killed in the Joint Security Area along the Korean DMZ, the United States returned to finish the job: cutting down a poplar tree. But this was no ordinary landscaping crew.

Operation Paul Bunyan brought an overwhelming show of force involving American and South Korean troops, helicopters, fighter aircraft, B-52 bombers, thousands of troops on standby, and the USS Midway. All to make sure one tree came down.

We react to The Fat Electrician’s telling of this bizarre Cold War confrontation and discuss just how quickly an incident at the DMZ could have spiraled into something much larger.
